Frequently Asked Questions about Towel Back

What is Towel Back?

Towel Back is a patent-pending towel that allows you to air dry your hair, while keeping your back or shirt dry. It is a towel attached to a headband with a soft waterproof liner. It is the only towel of its kind as the headband keeps the towel in place so you can be completely handsfree.

What are the materials used in Towel Back?

The towel is 100% Turkish Cotton Terry Velour. It is soft and smooth to the touch, unlike other cotton towels that have a rougher feel. The headband is made out of the same cotton towel material and contains an elastic band inside.

The liner is a USA-Made, proprietary blend of polyester & polyurethane. It is free from BPA, phthalates and contains no DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP and DnOP. The liner is super soft, breathable and flexible. It is also CPSIA certified, meeting stringent standards by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission on lead and phthalates and flammability.

Does Towel Back come in different sizes?

Towel Back is a one-size fits most. Our kid-friendly designs are 17 inches long and gradually widen from approximately 13 inches (near the shoulders) to approximately 18 inches (near the lower back).

For kids with longer hair, we have an "Extra Long" option which is 20 inches in length.

Our Ladies Edition is both longer and wider. It is approximately 21 inches long and gradually widens from approximately 15 inches (around the shoulder area) down to 21 inches (around the lower back). The ladies' headband is also wider and is adjustable size.

Where is Towel Back made?

Towel Back is proudly made in the USA!! Each piece is hand-cut and sewn together in a boutique manufacturing facility in Naples, Florida.

What are the benefits of using Towel Back?

What we repeatedly hear from our customers and what we have found to be true in our household, is that Towel Back is really a game-changing, time-saving product.

1. Prevent wet shirts: Before Towel Back, there was no way to efficiently air dry your hair without getting your shirt or back wet. This was the number one reason we created Towel Back.

2. Saves time: Towel Back saves time because you don't have to blow dry the hair. You can put it on and since it allows you to be handsfree, you can clean, cook, eat, read, play, watch TV, take the dog for a walk, etc.

3. Helps keep hair healthier: There are many benefits to air drying hair. See our next FAQ for a list of them.

4. Reduces laundry: Often towels used for hair and body get intermingled and end up in the hamper. Towel Back can be used over and over without washing as it is strictly for your hair. You simply hang it up to dry overnight and it can be used the next day. Also, because shirts and PJs are no longer getting wet, those items don't end up in the wash unnecessarily either.

5. Post-shower independence: After a shower, I always had to tend to my daughter's hair. She was too young to blow dry her hair, tie her hair up or balance a twisted towel on her head. Towel Back allows her to get it herself, put it on herself and then finish her nighttime routine.

6. Convenient for swim days: Whether it be swim lessons, pool parties or beach days, the car ride home can be uncomfortable. You put on dry clothes but if the hair is still dripping wet, that nice dry shirt is now soaked. Towel Back can be conveniently packed in a bag and worn right after swimming and is perfect for the car-ride home.

7. Great for on-the-go families. If your family is always bouncing from one place to the next, simply throw on Towel Back after your shower and wear it as you travel to your next destination. Often we go from practice, then home for a quick shower, then we are back out to eat or run an errand.

8. Sensory Issues/Sensitive skin conditions: One thing we learned from our customers is that Towel Back has helped those with minor sensory issues as it provided a soft barrier between wet hair and back which reduced the irritable sensation. We also learned of a skin condition, called cold urticaria, where a person's skin breaks out in hives when it comes into contact with cold water such that blow drying was always required after a shower to prevent a hive outbreak from occurring. While Towel Back was not created to address either of these health conditions, we are pleased to hear that it has helped some on another level.

What are the benefits of air drying hair?

There are tons of literature on this very subject. The benefits found to air drying hair include:

1. Prevents breakage

2. Retains more moisture

3. Prevents heat damage

4. Retains natural hair texture

5. Saves time and energy

What are the care instructions?

Towel Back does not need to be washed often as it should only be used in the hair air drying process. Simply hang it up to dry each night and reuse.

When you need to wash it, wash with similar colors in cold water and mild detergent. You may tumble dry on low heat.

We suggest avoid ironing as over-ironing could damage the liner.

Bleach may be used if washing the solid white Towel Backs with your other whites.

Does Towel Back donate a portion of its profits?

Yes, Towel Back is absolutely committed to giving back! We call it the Towel Back Give Back. We donate to various nonprofit organizations throughout the year. Follow us on social media for updates!
